Management & Leadership Programmes
Management & Leadership Programmes
Management & Leadership Programmes
Introduction In this demanding and changing marketplace, all Managing Directors and business owners are fully aware of the need for continuously high performance, yet the limiting behaviour of individuals within them can impact negatively on results and effectiveness. These Programmes have been designed with this in mind for MK and North Bucks Chamber of Commerce and confront these issues head-on and rigorously addresses them.
The Programmes are creatively-designed, psychologically-testing, behaviour- enhancing experiences based on experiences with senior leaders in some of Europe’s leading corporations. There are three approaches for you to consider which is the most appropriate for your current situation:
• Option 1 – Leadership coaching for the individual leader
• Option 2 – Peer development with a group of business owners and Managing Directors in similar situations
• Option 3 – development for the Managing Director or business owner and their direct team in their organisation
The bedrock of all the Programmes are to help you to develop yourself personally and will be the catalyst that will help you to achieve a new level of excellence through challenging you and helping you to understand the techniques highly successful sports and business people use to reach, and continue to operate to, their full potential.
The Programmes will enable you to gain a better understanding of what constitutes good performance, how to improve both your own performance and how to create a performance-focused culture by filtering these through your organisation.
Option 1 – the Individual This option is for the company owner of Managing Director who wants to develop them self, and to enhance their understanding of their leadership style in a pragmatic and outcome focussed manner through coaching interventions. Great leaders exist in all of us; the trick in today’s business environment is to be brave enough to find it in you. We have developed this programme to support the business leader in developing and exploring themselves through a combination of one to one coaching interventions and targeted development interventions.
This programme consists of a series of 3 one to one coaching sessions over a 3 month period with one of our partner coaches.
Pre-Work
The individual business leader will be asked to complete an exercise to help understand their leadership style, strengths and areas for development
Session 1 In the first session the coach and coachee will establish rapport, review the coachee’s history, challenges and vision for the future. The concepts of Individual Leadership development will be discussed. The detailed report from the pre-work will be discussed. Initial areas for action will be identified and change work will start to enable the coachee to have positive actions to take from the meeting. The coach and coachee will prepare the initial development plan for the individual.
Interim Activity
The coachee will review their report in detail and complete their personal action plan. A proforma outline will be provided to the coachee. In addition the coachee will focus on the behavioural changes agreed at the previous coaching session
Session 2 In the second session progress against actions will be reviewed and discussed. The coach will assist the coachee in exploring their learning and expectations from the work they have done to date. The detailed development plan will be agreed and guidance provided to enable the coachee to develop aspects of their leadership.
Interim Activity The coachee will continue to implement the behavioural changes identified with the coach. The coachee will also review their progress against the Development Plan
Session 4 The coach and coachee will review progress made against the Development Plan and areas to be continually developed. A review of future actions for the individual will be undertaken. Throughout the coaching programme the coach will be available to the coachee for email/telephone support as and when required
Option 2 – Peer Learning This option is for company owners or MD who want to develop themselves and to develop a network of other business owners and MDs in order to learn in an open environment and to forge learning relationships with other leaders in the local area. They see the benefit of developing themselves for the benefit of their business. For the leader to be successful they need to understand the impact of their actions and behaviours as leaders on their business. Through understanding their own strengths and weaknesses and being able to understand the strengths and weaknesses of others they will enhance the performance of their business. For this reason we have put together a programme that is aimed at helping a business owner or Managing Director to develop both as individuals and also as a team of other owner/MDs in similar situations.
The programme we have put together consists of 4 elements, they are as follows:
Element 1 Each member of the programme will take an individual behavioural diagnostic tool, which will help to identify the behavioural traits that they are strongest in and also the areas for development. The purpose of the diagnostic tool is also to have an understanding of how each person communicates, how they tackle tasks and how they cope in stressful situations.
Element 2 Each of the team members is to attend a ˝ day workshop, where they will be shown the report following the diagnostic and will then be able to see through the content of the training how they can adapt their working and communication styles to work in a more effective and focussed manner. A number of leadership concepts will be introduced in a practical and logical way. At the end of the workshop each team member will put together a development plan for how they are going to enhance their leadership performance over a period of time
Element 3 Following the workshop The MD or business owner will receive 2 x one-to-one coaching sessions with one of our partner coaches which will help them to see how they are developing following the workshop and to identify any areas that they feel need to have more development.
Element 4 This is a follow up ˝ day workshop which will be used to analyse what has changed since the first workshop, what has worked, what has not work. The owner/MDs will be encouraged to explore their development since they started the programme and what other development work they want to do and to put together a plan of how to do it. Different services and solutions will be looked at with the workshop facilitator. At the end of the workshop an action plan will be put together as a team on how they can move the company forward. The group may wish to continue to reinforce the contacts they make through this process. Option 3 – the Leadership Team This option is for company owners or MD who not only wants to develop themselves, they also see the benefit of developing the management team who they work with. For any team to be successful there needs to be congruence in how they work with each other and with their MD. By having a top management team that can work to their own individual strengths and recognise the strengths in others they will become a strong team who can take the company forward.
For this reason we have put together a programme that is aimed at helping a top management team and the company leader to develop both as individuals and also as a team.
The programme we have put together consists of 4 elements, they are as follows:
Element 1 Each member of the team will take an individual behavioural diagnostic tool, which will help to identify the behavioural traits that they are strongest in and also the areas for development. The purpose of the diagnostic tool is also to have an understanding of how each person communicates, how they tackle tasks and how they cope in stressful situations.
Element 2 Each of the team members is to attend a ˝ day workshop, where they will be shown the report following the diagnostic and will then be able to see through the content of the training how they can adapt their working and communication styles to work as a cohesive and congruent team. At the end of the workshop each team member will put together a development plan for how they are going to change how they work over a period of time
Element 3 Following the workshop The MD or business owner will receive 2 x coaching sessions which will help them to see how the team is developing following the workshop and to identify any areas that they feel need to have more development
Element 4 This is a follow up ˝ day workshop which will be used to analyse what has changed since the first workshop, what has worked, what has not work. To explore any areas that the team feel they are missing and what other development work the team wants to do and to put together a plan of how to do it. Different services and solutions will be looked at with the workshop facilitator. At the end of the workshop an action plan will be put together as a team on how they can move the company forward
